As Escape Artists, we completely agree with both concepts, but not as understood by many. Rather than phrases used to promote and defend reductive, minimalist buildings, we believe each statement has a truer, deeper meaning.
We believe humans are more than rational beings in need of a bed, a kitchen and a toilet. We want to feel our humanity, live our values, express our joy, embrace our place, and take to heart our role as custodians of our beautiful planet—and we naturally want our environment in general, and our buildings in particular, to reflect that.
